E.S. Grant Mental Health Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia, is the sole psychiatric institution for a population of nearly 4 million. Although resources are limited and there are no psychiatrists or psychologists on staff, this small hospital is making a big impact on the mental health of the country. The Carter Center, in partnership with Liberia's Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, will use Grant Hospital as a training site for mental health nurses and physician assistants to build up much needed human resources for mental health care in Liberia.
