DJ BoBo - Will Keep On Fighting Hunger - WFP 2010

Swiss pop star DJ Bobo has told WFP Executive Director Josette Sheeran that he wants to carry on raising awareness and funds for WFPs fight against hunger for a long time yet.

BERN -- Swiss pop star DJ Bobo told WFP Executive Director Josette Sheeran on Friday that he intends to carry on raising awareness and funds for WFPs fight against hunger for a long time yet.

Bobo, who has been a WFP Ambassador Against Hunger since 2006 and raised more than US$300,000 for the organization, met Sheeran in Berne during a two-day official trip to Switzerland.

After being thanked for his service as Ambassador, Bobo replied: "Oh, we have only just started. We still have a lot of work to do! We will be working together a long time."

Nutritious food

Bobo has given important support to WFPs Fill the Cup campaign to provide nutritious food to hungry children in school.

"I am committed to keeping hunger on the agenda. WFP is doing great work around the world. In Kenya and Ethiopia I have seen it with my own eyes. I'm determined to do my part to make sure people in my country and elsewhere know about it," he said.

Late last year he revisited the projects in Ethiopia for which he has raised funds. He said what most impressed him was progress in adapting to climate change. Read Bobo's diary

Sheeran and the former DJ talked about possible future projects, including Bobos hope to further promote the online game FreeRice to schoolchildren in Switzerland and Germany.

it's sad, but acctually we can't save children from starving....

It's because people, who have enough money, don't mind poor children.

We could buy a good, old TV - but, no, it has to be a flat screen.

We could spend a child some hope - but we all go to Mc Donalds.
