Playing a bit of bluesy funk stuff through the Emma Electronic StinkBug. We made it with John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan in mind. But it has found its use among bass players, violinists, keyboard players and acoustic steel string players as well.

I personally tested this pedal for a year, before it went into production. In the late hours before putting it into production, we managed to improve the production model and to my surprise bettered my prototype quite a bit.

The cool thing about the SB1 is that it keeps your tone and body intact. It doesn't sound like an overdrive pedal, it sounds like you and your guitar with an overdriven tone.

The Low doesn't affect your mids, and the high is great for twanging the sound a bit, or to cut off the highs, to mimic the older classic overdrive pedals.

It is also surprisingly liquid. If you play bluesy and percussive stuff, it adds a great punch, but if you start some legatto Holdsworthy licks with the same low gain setting, it sounds incredibly fluid. Other pedals and even amps require a lot more gain to get the same effect.

With the StinkBug it is all very clear, transparent and liquid. You should check it out.

  • very nice, to me sound like a tubescreamer without the bad things about tubescreamers! tight, punchy, warm but not dark...gotta check this out!

nice neck pickup tone too...which pickup is that if i can ask?

  • @pingurotfl Its a Dimarzio Area 61 - And thanks, we worked hard on the Stinkbug, to make it sound like you describe :)

  • @PalleSchultz Can it get more OD than you standard tubescreamer clones? Does it cut bass response? It sounds much like what I run already, but a little cleaner in it's execution of the notes.

  • @TTmaniax

Actually it isn't a clone. But that aside, it doesn't cut bass, unless you want it to. I think it has more than plenty of OD. But you should try one and listen for yourself.

  • Great tone.

  • Now I get the point why Emma's pedals sound so good. Just because the developers know what do to with the guitar.

  • Very hot overdrive! I`l make present for my gitarist! it is stink and amazing!

  • @PalleSchultz Hey, whatever it is, it sounds pretty doggone good to me. If I see one I'll give it a whirl. At the moment I don't have the money.

  • very nice sound!!!

  • Hi

Best bluesy overdrive sound I've heard...I almost regret buying a les paul but any ways....which amp do you use in this demo...and are there any pedals you could recommend for a les paul if I want that kind of overdrive and also a distortion pedal for leads...... has to have a lot of gain and sustain...

    thanks

    Jakob
