In response to the top comment, I think Jason Beck was just as original but it was easier for people to copy his style. I like both of them but "neoclassical" only became a big thing in guitar world because of what he did. So both are original, but Lane's amazing technique and style are just way too hard to copy. And I think the "neoclassical" was more approachable and immediately understandable.

@cerelilqt No, Shawn had a very special technique. Jason Becker was more of a sweep picker player, and was great at that. Both had great skill, but very different technique. But I would still give it to Shawn, much more original.
