"I am a little too happy," (in these videos) says Hannigan, but it "sure makes my job sound fun so that's good".

Yes, Robyn Hannigan strikes me as a very happy and content person, and a smart one! I have known Robyn since May 1998, when I was in Boston for an AGU conference and made use of the occasion to pay a visit to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI, pronounced hoo-wee). Robyn was a post-doc there at the time. She quickly rose through the ranks of science and currently is a full professor at UMass Boston where she is Chair of Environmental, Earth and Ocean Sciences. Robyn is a geochemist, a very flexible one.

Her office contains a pet snake, everything she needs in case there is an emergency graduation, and lots of paperwork, among other things. If you want to hear about that or about the effects of gaming - yes, gaming - on scientists, about medical geology, and find out how Robyn became a geochemist - which no one had ever expected - and started two companies, take a look at http://www.smarterscience.com/interview-RobynHannigan.html
