We have integrated the shape memory alloy Nitinol in felted textile substrates to create animated structures that move or change shape over time, using resistive heating and control electronics.

Here is a paper we published. I hope it answers some of your questions.

  • where can we supply this wire?

  • The nitinol material reverts to its rest state as it cools, a fairly rapid process after the thermal energy generated by the electrical resistance dissipates.

  • Interesting material.

i could see allot of applications for this.

  • what kind of powre source are you using, voltage/current?

  • How long does it take for the fabric to reset itself to it's original state?
