In partnership with the Studio Museum of Harlem, the school integrated lessons on the Holocaust and visual arts. The humanities teachers, museum personnel and the teaching artist work jointly to identify powerful connections between visual art and the literature and history taught in 9th and 10th grades by the humanities team. At the same time, each unit has to contribute to students art skills since for many students this is their first opportunity to work with materials and to create works of their own. Fannie Lou is a past Center for Arts Education grantee and current Arts Powered Learning school.
