@fiatnutz so the gasket will not fill the small gaps..? I mean factory specs should be good... I might get my engine done and I want to know what to look/ask for, from the specialist. Unfortunately, I think you are to far away to take advantage of your services :) Thank you.

was the old gasket cleaned off before measuring the factory finish?

@CosminRotaru - To increase the grip/clamping pressure between the gasket, head, and block.

What is the major determining factor of surface smoothness? Cutting bit condition, feed speed, etc.? I know when I was machining brake rotors the slower the feed speed the better the job the lathe did, but that is quite a bit more simplistic than what you do there.

@chickenofsea - All of the above. I use a CBN bit for the cast iron and a PCD for aluminum.
