America Sings kicks off the 1998 Macy's Parade. As a 12yr old, I was thrilled to be a part of this amazing experience. I'm in there somewhere, but I've never been able to spot myself, but a lot of my friends are seen!

I still remember most that dance, too!

They almost cancelled this parade because the wind and rain was so strong. Many of the balloons were not sent out and the ones that were were blown dangerously close to buildings. While NYC decided whether or not to cancel the parade, I remember holding onto a lamp post in order to keep the wind from blowing me over.

  • @SqueakyWeege Nice I was in the 1999 also! I was in the front row cheesing!

  • I was in it, 1999....it rained the whole time so I had green paint all over me and it was really slipppery.... great memories though!!

  • I was in it, and yeah people were complaining about the paint. 2001 was better weather

  • LOL! IM GONNA BE IN IT!

  • Why does it looks so dark? I know it was raining, but some of the shots make it look like it was almost nighttime.

  • I can't believe I found this! I was there wearing a pink sweatshirt and yes I remember how the rain dyed our gloves. I was near the front when we escorted Santa and I remember some of the other school's singers complaining and I was smiling so hard my face hurt. The video is a little blurry now but right before the popcorn move I'm near the upper right of the screen. Every year for Thanksgiving my mom always says thats it's never as good as the year her daughter was in it. Thanks for posting!

  • I was in 1998 and 1999, where it rained both years of course. John Jacobson is insane! Oh yes, and the freshly painted asphalt turning our white skirts and gloves green as we did the "popcorn" move.

  • I worked the night before (Thanksgiving Eve) at the now defunct Toys R 'Us on 34th and remember people slipping in the streets early that morning because it was still raining out lol.

  • I was there also at The Mayflower Hotel. Saw the whole thing. Deffinatley something I should do again

  • omg! This was my first macy's thanksgiving day parade i ever watched and i rember it (barley i was only two)! you guys did an awesome job, but im still having trouble rembering if a balloon popped that year by a broken street lamp or not... mabey it was a diffrent year... oh well all i rember this was my first thanksgiving day parade. YOU GUYS ROCK!
