Windows XP is and always will be the absolute best at giving access to people who want to have a fiddle. The reason that I think that it WILL ALWAYS be the best, is because the trend in O/S's is (currently) to make them easier to use for newbies. And of course the cost for ease of use is limited access to programs and other features, so that the "newbie" has minimal risk of fucking things up.
