Obsession can take many forms -- and I love performing this song. This is Sinatra at his most perfect -- a virtual masterpiece of musical emotion. Probably inspired by the love of his life, Ava Gardner. He loved her as much as I loved him....in a straight guy kind of way of course.
"Dead on!" -- The New York Times
"Amazing talent. Like Sinatra in his prime. " Mark Simone, WABC radio

From the nationally televised Public Television Special, "My Sinatra: The Songs and the Stories starring Cary Hoffman" -- as seen on 35 public television stations around the country. Produced by Al Tapper ("Broadway: The Golden Age") and Jon Small (Garth Brooks, Elton John and Billy Joel).
Mr. Hoffman does not communicate with his audience. Perhaps he should watch a bit more of "THE MAN" himself--he surely doesn't present a confident or enthusiastic presentation by looking down 90% of the performance. I wasn't sure if he even had eyes! Been a Sinatra admirer for thirty-five+ years, having 75% of his recordings, films and live performances. Mr. Hoffman may SING Frank's hits but he surely isn't close in presentation OR voice. He says he's obsessed? Doesn't seem so to me!

Cary actually sounds like "CARY HOFFMAN"! LISTEN closely...He's doing HIS thing with the phrasing as opposed to just copying licks from the many recorded versions by Mr. S within the framework of these classic arrangements and GREAT BAND! GREAT JOB Cary!

I saw him life a few years ago and I have to tell you this, I closed my eyes and Frank was back on stage one more time. he is one awesome performer to hear live. Yes there was only one Chairman of the Board, but Mr. Hoffman does him a great homage here.

Great. My Grandfather was sitting in the other room when I watched this video.
He was asking:
"Oh you are listening to some Sinatra CDs"
"Let me join you"
And then he couldn't believe his eyes.
It wasn't Ol'Blue Eyes singing this song.
...
It was You =)
