  • Hi. You only need a inch of soil to grow wheatgrass is why I use short trays and if you keep fresh air coming in to the trays and keep the air moving with fans you should never have a mold problem unless your dirt has spores in it. Have a great day! Wade

  • Hi. 8 inches is perfect to harvest your grass. Ann Wigmore says harvest 6-8 inches for best nutritional value! Have a happy healthy day! Wade

  • what do you do with the tray of cut grass with the dirt? do you recycle this somehow?

  • @joanheron1 Hi. I wish I could have a compost drum on the truck but no room for it. So I have to throw it out. :'( It's not good to try & keep regrowing from same cut tray cause mold will pop up! Have a heathy day! Wade

  • Where did you get your hat? I think I might know the owner of Rickles Pickles. I am from Indiana.

  • @TheJillCohen Hi Jill. I got my hat from Rick himself! I go there to buy his pickles in Fremont. Have a good healthy day! Wade

  • wheatgrass tastes good...

  • @parawade I meant 1 inch baking sheets, not cookie sheets... and i did find some in stainless steel jelly roll pans. I need about 6 or more (kind of expensive upfront, but cheaper in the long run because the plastic ones wear out and i have to buy new ones.

  • @parawade I do use a fan and place my wheatgrass near an open window. . I'll look for "Sunshine Grower's Mix #2. I hadn't thought about the soil. I like that the cookie sheets are more sturdy and would be easier to wash for re-use than plastic grow trays. Maybe i can find stainless steel - avoiding plastic is best.

    Thx for your videos -

  • awesome wheatgrass!! also, do you look for first signs of jointing or just wait until the grass is -10 inches high? I've read that first signs of jointing was the most nutritional. If I'm doing that the grass is only 5-6 inches in height...... so I get less yield per tray.

  • How do you keep the mold off ? I noticed you are using trays or trays with low edges? reason for that? Ive been growing wheatgrass for a month. I'm just learning when to soak next so that I don't run out: - so thx for that info. My trays r in a greenhouse with the front panel open and a fan blowing down from the tops shelf (indoors). I also soak my seed in grapefruit seed extract. My newest flat will be watered from the roots - all for mold prevention. also trying 2 grow barley
