LOST AND FOUND. These 297 Old Photographs are the foundation for an Exhibition compiled by Artist Sean Corcoran. An unknown family. An unknown photographer. Forgotten characters brought back to life. They were recovered as glass negatives from the roof of an old building in Waterford city, Ireland. Most of the photographs date from the 1920's and the 1930s. At this stage none of the individuals have been identified. Who are they? Is it right to be resurrecting this dead families life? Is there anyone still alive? Will people recognize them? Who are their descendants? Mystery surrounds these people.
The exhibition consists of framed photographs, family albums and a ten-minute slideshow. The artist has also created an interactive website where people can view and comment on all the photographs. Other artists from around the world have collaborated with the images. A selection of their sketches, paintings and digital artworks also forms part of the exhibition. One thing is for sure, the photographer had serious talent and this is an incredible record of a familys life with classic portraits and local historic events. Lost and Found has been on exhibit in the Munster Bar on the Mall in Waterford city, Ireland.
