@naumutroi ...Lyoto Machida!!!...perfect example of how "traditional" martial arts can very easily be used as a self defence or for fighting. Just think how destructive Lyoto would be in a real life and death situation. The guy can hit you with a kick from almost anywhere in the Octogon!
-
@akrocuba I agree. I also believe that most of the best fighters in MMA are respectfull of Traditional Martial Arts. Like GSP, Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.. Although GSP did a very bad kata demo at a UFC event that hasa been posted on youtube. Destructive Knee is .. destructive.

@naumutroi ..If a person only watches MMA, they think they knowit all. I am amazed how many guys I meet that know th rules inside and out, BUT, they have never been in a real fight. Things that make you go HMMMMMM!!!???>..>LOL

@borobei because EPAK contains so little actual kenpo that was taught to parker from Chow it really cannot be called kenpo let alone traditional kenpo which is why it is called EPAK (Ed Parker's kenpo).
-
@akrocuba its those MMA wannabies i tell ya. They think that if it is not in the octagon its crap. Fucking assholes. ALL of the self-defence sets are drills. They are not sparring. Its like learning scales or licks in music. Shihan Speakman is a most excellent instructor.

Training in structured techniques is key to anyone's training. Take a boxer who punches a speed bag or a heavey bag. The bag never hits back, but it is still great training to learn how to trow punches properly. The same goes for structured exercises. They teach how to move and become more responsive to an attach.
-
@naumutroi ...Totally agree. I see so many people making comments and they don't understand that demos like this is all part of training for a real attack. You may not use the exact technique...but it trains you to move when attacked. I think Jeff Speakman is one of the best instructs, even though I have never met him in person. Keep posting the great vids and let the unknowing talk out of their asses.

Question? Shouldn't you be nullifying the attackers inverted centrifugal thrust parameters prior to executing an accelerated variance technique at a torque range of that distance? I mean sure, given that he is likely sustaining perpendicular refraction of your downward orbital mass and consequently has sacrificed his angular momentum velocity by .04, you could alright - but why chance it.

@cptmiche kenpo is not a soft martial art. do more homework.
-
@cptmiche Thanks for your answer. Hopefully i will be able to go to a kenpo school some time in the near future and observe a class. The only problem is i live in a very small town that is right in the middle of dozens of other small towns and i fear that i wont find a kenpo school close by. what style of kenpo do you think is taught the best? Because from doing research i found a few different organizations that teach it.

@MrBotheman (see the other comment first) By on the fly defense I mean like adapting to a fight situation. A fighter who relies heavily on teaching structured techniques and fixed responses to attacks will not be able to properly defend against even a slightly trained fighter. Because in a real situation not everyone will react in ways that compliment your techniques. You need to be able to adapt. So in conclusion i would ask the instructor if you can observe a class to access their abilities.
-
@MrBotheman I practiced a kenpo for a few years,(the others i have spent practicing other martial arts). I believe it is a very practical martial art, but at the same time there is some of that is a bit excessive. Kenpo is a "soft" martial art which is very appealing because it is effective esspecially for people who are smaller, or not very conditioned. The only thing i dont agree with very much is some of the instructors i see structure out attacks which doesnt promote "on the fly" defense.
-
When I do this technique I first put an arrow to the knee and then I grab it..

I'm really interested in learning kenpo. Does anyone here who knows what the heck they are talking about have any advice? it seems like half the people on youtube just like to say negative things for the hell of it so please don't waist my time with bullshit. I am very serious about my martial arts and expect the same from you. The reason i am thinking of learning kenpo is because of the fast paced, precise striking. I feel like it would suit my fighting style well. Thanks for reading.

I wonder how Adam his kid brothers getting on?!!
Who killed Kim?

I'd like to see this work in real life. How about a more reasonable move like fading back, then into a sidekick with full hip extension to the knee.
-
Alot of words to describe each move/sequence. He could have included the reason why you have to do the sequence like that. Remember friends, longer the desription longer it is to master. So from white belt to 6th dan or whatever Kenpo's variation is. 15 years easy, before you can defend yourself well. I do have experience in martial arts such as; tae kwon do, judo, boxing, wing chun, kali/silat, and going for my purple belt in BJJ.

The Perfect Weapon has some amazing fight scenes even for the 90s.
I've seen it 100 times and still the fight scenes are awesome.

Alright people, Speakman vs Seagal, in real life, free style (using their own arts), since they're so much alike, who do you think would win. btw i love both of them.
why is it that people of little martialarts experience and or fighting experience comment and say stupid shit without nothing to back up thier comment or arguement. That is why on my videos i censor the comments because i am sick and tired of these assholes who mouth off about my stuff who i would tap out or knockout. Sensei Speakman gave a excellent demo.

I created a negative orbit when I double parry checked the elbow but still managed to lace my feet which secured the roll out takedown. They never see it coming.
