Glidecam V-25 flying a Red Video camera. This demo shows a general rigging and balance. I know the audio and video sucks, I wanted to fly my cheap hand held video camera and video tape the demo with the RED, but the producer didn't buy it.
The video covers images of the RED properly stripped down to accommodate the V-25.

RED - @30Lbs with lens and matbox, battery mounted aft left matbox 19mm rod, rotate the battery underneath for lower center of gravity. The REDs center of balance for this configuration was just behind the lens. The REDs LCD mounts to stock V-25 LCD bracket with ¼-20 screw. The RED has a non standard video cable, ensure at least 5ft.

Glidecam V-25 - Sled configuration was 2 on the lower post and only about a thumbs width from the top for the gimbal, this allowed for only one Anton Bauer battery to be used. Mounting to the top plate rotate the AB battery to the vertical position. Because the post was so low a few retakes where due to the bottom of the sled catching my calf, or the battery lock down wing nut catching lower pocket on my cargo shorts, use gaffing tape on sled side catch point of clothing.
Dovetail plate to RED mounting plate, using the offset plate holes to accommodate RED battery location and using only the first 4 holes of the RED plate, allowing for ample aft balance, dovetail plate forward most of the holes exposed. Use 10 extension post. Crank the springs all the way up, and then ½ turn loose, or binding will occur, the arm rode @ 3-5 lbs short of max. the arm work effectively for smooth pace conditions.

Wish list - use longer battery power cable to mount RED batteries (standard V-mount non standard power cable interface) on bottom of sled. Wireless focus, Im buying a bunch of male LEMO connectors to make my own cables on sight (Plug for Mating Cable: Lemo #FGG1B302CLCD), check with Glidecam to ensure your arm has the upgraded needle bearings, the ball bearings on my arm shredded on the 3rd and last day. Kudos to Glidecam for fast email response, Dan the DP for being patient with all my questions, Brian the Director keeping his cool at all times, keeping it fun under pressing time schedule. Flip and Rollie, Tyrone, Amir and the rest of supporting crew.

  • bud light to be exact

  • Long, boring, pointless shots, out of focus, bootleg steadicam (can't afford the real thing I suppose). I don't think the good people of RED should be too proud of this video.

  • @npgant Your just jealous I have a bigger stronger...er...Glidecam!!!

see this guys youtube, nothing to brag about there buddy.

bring it on all you steadicam clowns, I'm ready!!!!....(after my coffee)

  • What's up with all the shaking? That's why I don't use my cell phone to shoot video, too shaky.

  • And out of focus, that crappie videographer, next your going to try to tell me he knows how to use a Glidecam ......HEY thats me!!!!

You all are jealous you have small lenses, and droppie arms, that why I use the V-25 and RED.

With the Glidecam V-25 I can carry my heavy package, last all night, and still look good shooting up to 120 shots a second with my big RED.

  • Since I have so many complaints of my 3 packs a day smoking voice to give you more information about the video, I clipped the audio and gave you some nice geekie jazz, for all you crying bitches!

  • i am just diggin the beer LCD shade

  • @npgant WOW what a hater

  • What a piece of crap video. Lets hope they do better when shooting for clients.

  • Some painful amount of weight. Excluding the extra few kilograms of the steadicam itself. What is the rolling shutter on the ONE when shooting 4k? I've seen the music video by Brandon Flowers for Crossfire which was shot on RED and the car scene has some noticeable artifacts. Nothing to complain about though. Still bloody good quality.

  • Sounds like the kind of music you'd hear on Gran Turismo.

  • LOL. I'm glad you have a sense of humor. And it's not the glidecam and Red camera that I was commenting on. I have a Glidecam Smooth shooter that I've been using with my XL-2. Damned good equipment. It's your shaky video of the glidecam and Red camera that I was making fun of....LOL.
