With the release of Pixelmator 2.0.2 some of the keyboard shortcuts we have gotten so accustomed to have changed. You have most likely noticed that cmd+d does no longer deselect the selection. In stead it duplicates the current layer. In previous versions of Pixelmator duplicating the current layer could be done by holding cmd+j. Cmd+j actually copied the current selection onto a new layer, but if you didn't have anything selected the whole layer got duplicated. In the latest release of Pixelmator, cmd+j is removed. Note though that cutting a selection onto a new layer is still done by pressing the good old shift+cmd+j.
Deselecting a selection can still be done with a keyboard shortcut which is now shift+cmd+d. If you have trouble getting accustomed to these new shortcuts, then there is a way to revert back to the old keyboard shortcuts you were used to.
We need to open our system preferences for this.

You're welcome. There seemed to be a lot of Pixelmator users who got irritated about Pixelmator Team changing the keyboard shortcuts and even removing some that they used most.
