  • Hey Bro.! have watched alot o your videos and they are great. Here is something to think about:

Analog tv is being shut down by feb 2009! A good ShortWave Radio is advisable if Sat is knocked out, by EMP(Electo-magnetic pulse)SW Radio can pick up stations all over te world.

jut pack in lead casing or wrap to protect aganist emp.

  • You can get a converter box. It will pick up the digital signals. You might even be able to get a rebate from the gov for it.

  • Get a radio.weighs 1 ounce and runs on a single aa battery for days. Also available in solar or wind wind up models. AM/FM/Shortwave available.

Far greater range than DTV of today.

  • I love your advice Kev! Great videos keep em coming!

  • Isn't radio better to have than radio?

I can pick up a lot more radio stations than I can TV stations.

  • your right good point keep the vids coming

  • antenna only for me. i watch probably like 0 hrs of tv a week.

  • I was going to mention that there will no longer be any analog broadcast starting in 2009, but I see people have already mentioned this. Personally, I will be getting a short-wave radio.

  • I'm a big fan of handcrank shortwave radios for emergency use. You can't do much better as far as a backup that doesn't assume any sort of utility.

Earthquakes are pretty minor, btw. I've been through 4 or 5 minor ones. There's never been any major service outage. If a building doesn't actually fall on you, you are fine. In the US, tree limbs falling from trees kills more people each year than earthquakes.

  • simple, i dont have a back up! mainly because i dont get tv reception! i do have an outdoor antenna like yours, and ive tried rabbit ears, but for some reason i cant pick up any reception. i could get cable or satelite, but for as little as i watch tv i dont waste the money. so for over two years now my family has lived without tv channels. i have no clue what goes on in rest of the world, and honestly i like it this way. i worry about my life and let others worry about the rest.
