I don't Want To Be A Lone Ranger - Johnny 'Guitar' Watson

I first got my nose opened to JGW in 1976 at 10 yrs old and every since then have loved his music and became even more enamored with his flamboyant/player style in all of its pseudo pimpishness, when I learned he hailed from Houston as I do. As saddened as I was when he passed he left a large body of work to be appreciated

Reminds me of back home in Chicago's South Side and Herb Kent and those stepper sets. Great times!

Truly superb. It was out of left field in '75 but what a sonic groove! Just genius!

Thank you so much for this particular post! Brings back memories of Sweet Home Chicago and the dusty stepper sets at the 50 Yard Line on 71st and Artis' on 87th/Kimbark with the Hall of Fame DJ Herb Kent. We long so much to see the Gangster of Love again in the resurrection! One more of the long list of "true-funk soldiers" fallen in the line of duty that Prince spoke about in Musicology a few years back. Carry on, Kemosabe! LOLOL!
