You gotta love Nixon. At least he had the sense to resign when he realized he no longer had the support of the American public, unlike a certain president...

Nixon did some great things for the country. He brought the troops home from Vietnam and established relations with the Peoples' Republic of China. He was a prisoner of his own paranoia, however, and that ultimately led to the Watergate cover-up and the resignation.

One sides uses it as a negative. I proclaim it with glee. Most have migrated to "progressive" I suppose. Which is true. We should start calling Republicans and Tea Party idiots "Regressives"

Yeah, Bush stayed 6 years too long. I hear ya. He was an asshole. Oh, you were kidding about "at least he had the sense" weren't you. See I thought.......... but no, you couldn't have really thought Nixon didn't fight like his life depended on staying in Washington. Nah, you're too smart for that. idiot

He is responsible for prolonging the Vietnam war by at least four years by illegally sabotaging the peace process before the 1968 election. This man has far too much Vietnamese and American blood on his hands to be hailed as a great man.

Nixon was one of the best presidents but all his good was overshadowed by Watergate. ='[

Think about this. How many presidents resigned in office? I'll give you a hint. ONE!!!! I don't know what really happened, but I know this. The media are full of it. No other president, no matter what he was involved with, resigned in office. You think it was a coincidence he knew he was being taped so he taped himself? If he knew his days were numbered (especially after JFK), why would he do that? Could it be that he was trying to warn all of us? Presidents don't resign for corruption.

it is fair to say that Nixon inherited the Vietnam war, so he should not take full blame. he did get America out of Vietnam, but at a very slow pace, a big mistake i believe. untimely after America withdrew in 1975, North Vietnam attacked the South and the ceasefire agreement was broken, the South Vietnamese government collapsed and Vietnam became united under a communist government. Nixon was guilty of trying to save a government (Saigon) that was completely incompetent, weak, and corrupt
