  • The classic Mazinkaizer meets heavy metal (insert any metal band), meets Equilibrium (the gun kata), meets Super Robot Wars. Friggin cool. The original Mazinkaizer wept a tear of pride after seeing this.

  • Giant. Robot. Gun Kata. I'd watch this even if it was terrible just for that alone.

  • @dzus123 Yes. Apparently Media Blasters decided on giving Mazinkaiser SKL an english dub. So rejoice.

  • @ryoga316 I get what you are saying. The SRW franchise is a great combination of commercials and fanfiction. SRW J made me wanna check out Layzner, videos for Z2 makes me wanna check out VOTOMS, and the recommended bar next to the layzner opening makes me want to watch Dragonar. It is good for older or lesser known series to get a spotlight (yay, Daiguard), but sometimes, it would be nice to see series actually blend rather than exist side-by-side. Keep it in character, no problems.

  • @ThanatosRW This is because that was the intent from the start - as well as the demand from the Japanese players. Terada originally wanted a simple battle SRPG for the game, thus, SRW 1. But because Japanese gamers don't like the characters to stray away from the original source canon, the stories and characters in the franchise behave as such. There are a few exceptions, such as the Ideon ending in SRW F Final and SRW Alpha 3 as completely avoidable.

  • @ryoga316 Just like after the Mazinkaiser OVA, they will reuse the same series over and over? Could this be the last we see of Great Mazinger...nah.

But seriously, that is always my problem with SRW. Most of the time, they will follow the series too closely, instead of letting the different bad guys team up to change the outcomes of certain events or new interpretations of characters. Look at my above comment about what the Jovians could with getter robo. SRW will nerve do that.

  • @ThanatosRW So far, the ONLY SRW game that did not feature Koji is SRW 1 for the Gameboy (that's because there, you only control the units, and the pilots are non-existant). With Terada already saying Shin Mazinger will be the standard for future SRW games, it's highly unlikely we'll see a SRW game without Koji, even if SKL is included (unless Koji's familiarity from Japanese fans faded over time).

  • @ryoga316 Yeah, but how many SRW deal with alternate universes? I'm just saying its always going to be Kouji first and foremost. Not Ken and Ryo or Duke Fleed, Kouji has to appear to please the fans. And I thought Mazinger Zero was about alternate timelines.

They really don't wander too far away from the original stories in SRW at times. Otherwise, I think the Jovians would have kidnapped Prof. Saotome to build Gekiganger 3. Now there would be a great combo attack, Gekiganger and Getter Robo

  • @ThanatosRW On the contrary, considering SRW Z's concept of alternate universes (thanks in part to Orguss's story), it makes it a possibility that SKL exists in one of those said universes. We know that Shin Getter in Z2 is from a different universe than classic Getter from Z1. The Shin Mazinger Zero manga also mentions of Mazingers existing in parallel universes, with classic Mazinger being among them (Shin Mazinger is set in another). Thus, SKL's existence among them.

  • I doubt they would use this for SRW. People get pissed when there is no Getter Robo, imagine if there was no Kouji Kabuto. And I really cannot see them putting this side by side with any other mazinger franchise. Although, they could brainwash Tetsuya and he could pilot it. Great Mazinkaiser
