Chris Hedges, who is a great American journalist and probably one of the most brilliant too, reads an excerpt from his new book that is extremely powerful. Watch it.

there's really nothing wrong with christianity..i've met great people who are christians..christ preached the concept of peace, love, and enlightenment..many people live their life according to those 3 values..but, leaders decieve and distort the bible..they convince people that bigotry and hate is in the name of love. they raped jesus' simple, pure message..the bible even warns of this deception..

Over the years, the US has become SO politicized by the presumptions & biases of rightwing ideology that even the most moderate ideas of social benefits, economic justice & participatory democracy are routinely vilified & discreditted as Communist, Marxist & Socialist. The 'liberal media' is another rightwing ploy used to move social mainstream towards the right. The ongoing wars & economic crisis have devastated political & moral legitimacy, setting the stage for Junk Politics & fake leaders.

Back to my initial point, you really cant sell a scientific theory as somehow different to other theories. Its not somehow exceptional to the laws governing other theories because its got the label scientific branded to its front. Thats like assuming you should obey someone because theyre wearing a police uniform. Of course our instinct will generally be to do so, but thinking to question something is not something to be so snobby about.

In response to general posted discussion: Scientists assuming theories in order to explore them does not make the theories confirmed. Scientific reasoning does not demand that a theory be confirmed for it to be used in further scientific exploration. It just means that the theory is deemed valid, that is to say the theory can be seen to be workable. I also want to point out that even facts are not untouchable, and refuting facts enables scientific progression.
