Shooting on a Canon 550D, in manual mode, full HD at 25 frames per second.
A comparison between shooting at 1/50th of a second and 1/500th of a second.
Even though the stills at the end of the clips show that the individual frames at 1/500th are much much sharper, the overall effect is to create bigger visual gaps between the movement.
The clips at 1/50th of a second show a much more natural look - your eyes and brain are used to motion blur and it is much easier to 'fill in the gaps'.
It must be remembered that the frame rate is exactly the same for all clips.
