They also really really wanted to be useful idiots for names like MURDOCK and global CORPS that want to obtain PATENTS for "your" DNA...
baby DNA taken at birth..without parental knowledge or permission...how would you like that??
TOO LATE..been going on since before you were born...look at what happened in Australia when they found out.

She she is talking about 600k loci, but you could use a 3k assay, and get less information for 100$, it really depends on what you are interested in finding out.

Ah no wonder. I was just watching your vids on human migration and was trying to figure out where I had heard of 23andme. I thought it was deja vu or something since it sounded so familiar.
Then I realized I was browsing for jobs yesterday and saw an opening at the company (though I didn't apply for it since I didn't have the required skills). :-)

@hellomate639, I don't think they'd mind - they're getting paid all the same :-)
You're right about the improved health awareness and potentially longer lifespan - that's one of the big promises of this technology. However, it's important to know that our ability to understand this information is very basic. I feel 23andMe are promising more than they can deliver.

Or you might confuse them and waste their time since it can be time consuming to analyze data, so no, one really shouldn't waste their time like that.
I think that this is really neat. It gives me some hope for indefinite lifespan through technology. Sure, it's not that advanced in comparison to what I hope for, but it will help me to keep a longer lifespan if I can identify things that are potentially coming my way.

@newyorkernut3, dog saliva would be identified as dog saliva - it wouldn't match against the human genome. Kind of a waste of money.

dna tribes and many people have said people might not ''inherit'' the same from each parent and their parents before them which is why geneological research is a good thing to do to .dna tribes uses many populations for their autosamal STR test which favors mixed and unmixed people they dont go by percentages like 23&me but they can use the raw data from other tests .educated people in this area have said that geneological research is best to for background info.

dnatribes explains more in depth what im trying to say in their FAQ and they admited that these admixture test like in 23&me can't really give your full background because they use only part of your dna and dna tribes have said even with their test you'll need research to know your full background and how these tests just fills it in abit.

23&me doesnt use allot of african poulations or even allot of other populations which is why their interpretationn is bad.Like allot of people had said their site is ethnocentric .
