This song is of considerable significance in the history of radio. The very earliest surviving broadcast recording of Fibber McGee & Molly features this song. The show is from June 1931 and was known as "Smackout" and was then a local program over WMAQ in Chicago, and it was four years before the Fibber McGee & Molly characters were even invented. Jim Jordan (Fibber) sings it and Marian Jordan (Molly) accompanies on piano.

Yes, Marvin Hatley played an instrumental version of this under the opening titles of "The Music Box".

This is a great tune. I have seen two different versions of it done on the Lawrence Welk Show that were outstanding. I wish they were on Youtube.

Greetings! I am an avid collector of phonographs and records (my collection is now worth well into 5 figures).
I just wanted to say that I absolutely adore this recording, and I would give anything to acquire it. Do you know someone who has another copy? If you would consider selling this copy, I would consider paying you no less than $500 for it. Maybe even more.....

I sold it for less than $2 on ebay. If you like I can send you a private message concerning the chap who won it.
