  • Wow! You explain this pretty good! And you also mention that Hawaiian citizens, including some foreign residents, we're at fault too of the overthrow. Good job!

But now, we all need to emphasize on thing: The issue of "Hawaii's overthrow" is NOT only a Native Hawaiian issue. Its everyones issue including Native Hawaiians! Its a "Hawaiian" issue.

Theres a difference between "Hawaiian" and "Native Hawaiian"

  • @yogi4itij. Hear, hear! Indeed! They cannot! All this time it was thought that the Newlands Resolution had the power of a treaty. But it does not. Hawaii's still an independent nation. The government is just currently in exile.

  • The Newlands Resolution claiming to cede Hawaiian title to sovereignty and public domain is an American law, which is limited to U.S. borders. It has no force and effect beyond those borders, in which the Hawaiian islands are independent of. The U.S. cannot pass a resolution annexing Japan, Canada, France etc. because foreign nations are immune to U.S. law.

  • @evanbreakben yeah, i agree. my documentary wasn't nearly as good as theirs... and i placed third at the states competition! the interviews were short because they only have 10 minutes to convey what they want to say. my interviews in my competition were hours long each, but the person only got a few seconds sometimes, in the interest of being to the point and time. but i get what you're saying! :) yeah, guys, good luck!

  • this is a fantastic documentary, really nice interviews... although they were a litle short. but overall, very well done. its hard to imagine how you only came in third place. good luck for next year though!

  • interesting i have a cousin from hawaii
