  • Been about a year,You were one of the Greatest of us, we who carry on miss you terribly Alistair!

  • @bardechh Yes indeed it will be one year on the 28th of January at 6:31pm. There will be a tribute concert held at Celtic Connections on this day featuring Dick Gaughan, Roy Bailey, Karine Polwart and some of Ally's friends including myself.

  • @bardechh Hi Marg here - in Aus. Just enjoying some of Ali's videos. Do you know any of the story about Jimmy, who, to me seems to have made a great contribution to Ali's music?

  • Ali was the best.

But does anyone know the story of Jimmy who has IMO made a wonderful contribution to this and other Alistair recordings.

  • I first heard this from the Irish Rovers. Fantastic!

  • Love this! "We'll sing you a song! Of the chances you've missed & the love that went wrong...We'll knock it straight down and we'll sing it again!"

  • There's a new full-band arrangement of this song on Suited And Booted, the debut album by Alistair Hulett's latest ensemble, The Malkies. Google the band's name for the website and more details.

  • awesome song. Great style of playing!

  • Hauntingly beautiful song...awesome first verse...am I wrong, or is he a little communist?

  • There's only the Roaring Jack full band version from Street Celtabillity (1987) but it's still available on the RJ compilation The Complete Works Of Roaring Jack (Jump Up Records). A few nice cover versions too, by current US and Canadian punk folk bands. Ta for the kind remark, btw.
