Ultima VIII - Ceremony of Eternity

The Ceremony of Eternity from "Ultima VIII: Pagan" (© Origin Systems / Electronic Arts 1994). The Avatar brings the stolen ceremonial dagger to Vividos so that Necromancer Lothian can die with dignity and proper order (and the world doesn't blow up).

@mbanker21 Nope, I just hit quicksave at that time. When you save the game in U8, the Guardian (who sent the Avatar to Pagan) sometimes does these weird voices-in-your-head taunts and likes to remind you that stuff isn't going too well back in Britannia. (Supposedly, this encourages you to finish U8 faster and get psyched about U9. Where you learn that Britannia *isn't* actually burning. Go figure. Never trust the muppetlord. =)

Well, U8 isn't happening in Britannia. "There are no happy people" in it, as the quotes say =)

And U8 has a lot of stuff in it that doesn't exactly ring true or virtuous... There's no nice way out of some of the situations.

But still, I thought the scene was fairly sensible within U8 itself.

@Cstrife234 nothing wrong with human sacrifice in games in *general*, it just isn't generally done by "good guys" in Ultima games. And Ultima games are all about the good guys.

@wwwwolf thats the whole point of pagan. u the champion of virtues go there, where they dont know you and you have to do un-avatar-like things. in the original u9 plot this would've turned some heads when the people uf britannia found out what the avatar has done in pagan. but u9 was crap as we all know

@piromaniac9999 The spell Armageddon, which the Avatar originally obtained from the Wisps in Ultima VI, is implemented by the Avatar to save Britannia from the Guardian. In fact, the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom directs the Avatar to cast the spell. Obviously it “kills” him, but he takes the Guardian with him, in a manner of speaking. Who ever said the spell would not come in handy at some point in 12 years of gaming?

@Cstrife234 because avatar have no choice to do it in ultima8. The magic in pagan have been forbidden by the mad queen. Avatar must found the different mage in pagan for return in britania...

Their is no virtue in pagan, that why the guardian throw in on this island.
