An idealistic artist, a celebrated singer and a corrupt police chief engage in a fierce battle of wills in this tempestuous tale of cruelty and deception. With its themes of political intrigue, sexual intimidation and official hypocrisy, Puccini's great melodrama set in 1800 is anything but dated. Canadian soprano Adrianne Pieczonka, praised by The New York Times for her lushly beautiful sound and poignant vulnerability, makes her Company debut in the title role. Baritone Lado Ataneli (Scarpia) has been praised by the Los Angeles Times as possessing one of the healthiest, roundest, most mellifluous voices on the planet. Honey-voiced Italian tenor Carlo Ventre makes up the third side of this fatal love triangle.

  • isn't Carlo Ventre Uruguayan? Did he give up his citizenship? and he is nothing close to honey voiced... not that he is bad... but who writes these info texts...?

Plus it is a wonder that no "Times" newspaper praised him, though the two Times of the the two coasts praised the other two artists.... :-) I am getting a little bit confused here... lol

  • This looks like really boring acting and staging.

  • CARLO(S) VENTRE IS URUGUAYAN NOT ITALIAN

  • Isn't it reassuring and pleasant to see a "traditional" and respectful staging, in the line of what Puccini and Sardou have wanted? Not that scandalous crap imposed by current stage directors (who think they can rule the world of opera!) , esp. in Europe! What a shame! AP is a splendid, warm and sensuous, impassionated Tosca. Thanks for posting.

  • wonderful i heard adrianne yeesterday in hamburgische statsoper ,and she is an amazing tosca

  • From these exceprts I think the singers are all excellent. I think Pieczonka should sing more of this repertoire, Ataneli has a beautiful voice but appears rather detached from the role and character of Baron Scarpia. The tenor is clearly a passionate singer very well suited to singing this repertoire.

  • I was there last night and it was very good. I loved it vary much. I can't what to see it again

  • Was it the Balcony, Grand tier/D. Circle

    Box or Orchestra seat?

There is B seats in all.
