Cardinal plant, or lobelia cardinalis is a sweet plant that I dont' trim enough. My boy kurt kept his really trimmed and it looked sweet. This plant is native and grows a tall bright "cardinal" red flower on the top. Not sure if what I am showing would do this, but its a cool variety regardless...Species sunday is tough with two kids :)

  • was chatting to Bez about this stuff the other day, I wasn't too sure if it was a genuine aquatic plant or one that just dies away. Now I have my answer.

  • One quick question about Anacharis Elodea. So I got some from the ever respectable petco and they are brown and weak looking. I have them in my tank that im running zoo med floro light T8's a little over 1 watt per gallon. I know and am hoping they will make a quick recovery but what else do you think I can do to speed their recovery along? I have a video of them if you need to see what they look like.

  • How many fish can I put in a 50 gallon

  • 220??... I can't wait to see what's going on with it, even if nothings changed you should do an update on what you are thinking about

  • @Fuzz4944 i think he has done baby tears already. i could be wrong tho.

  • so glad i found your channel dude. i've been independently working on a dirted tank because i had this hunch that chemical ferts are bullshit because no wild plants get their nutrients from a bottle. so stoked to see that you've already explored a long way down this line of logic and with awesome results.

  • Hey Dustin you should do a speices Sunday on footing plants :)

  • I like this guys stuff but he pays more attention to the plants

  • You should do a Species Sunday about BabyTears, Four Leaf Clover, or Microsword and show us how to "plant" the stuff with little to no root structure. I currently have my Microsword growing in a 10 gallon by itself and I'd like to know if I did it right. I pretty much made a 1/2" depression in my gravel and then pushed gravel up against the sides of the plant to hold it in place, if that makes sense..Is that the "proper" way?
