And for those days when you just can't find an empty cab, an app is on the way.

It's from a tech startup called Hailo.

It's already for those hailing cabs in London. It alerts a nearby cabby. It then alerts a nearby passenger how long it will take for the driver to arrive.

It hopes to launch in New York within three to six months.
