Audio playback stutters when launching apps or navigating the system. It does not matter if the audio file is local or if its streaming. The issue is most evident at the 2:03 mark when launching "Browser" and at 2:42 when launching "Manage Applications". Other minor glitches are evident in other parts of the video, such as when locking the screen. This Droid X2 is 2 days old and has the OTA Gingerbread update. The phone is totally stock without so much as an app installed.

  • Here is the latest. I got a replacement for my X2 with this problem and it did the same thing (which I expected) but also bricked itself overnight. I asked for a different model phone and was told no and that I was expecting too much from my phone to be able to play music without the stutter and that every phone has software quirks that you have to live with....BY A SUPERVISOR. Finally got them to downgrade me to a fascinate..which isn't ideal, but it played music OK when I had one.

  • @aidansdad22 Wow, that is absolute BS. As the VZ account manager for my employer, I handle A LOT of smartphones, This is the only phone I've come across that can't handle playing an MP3 without stuttering. IMHO, playing an MP3 is one of the top 3 things a smartphone should be able to do reliably (besides making phone calls/SMS and sending and receiving e-mail). Hell, even my old, crappy HTC Imagio running WinMo 6.5 could play an MP3 without stuttering and it had a 500Mhz CPU with 128Mbs of RAM.

  • is there a fix for this? my palm centro could play music and launch apps without a hiccup so what's with this phone.

I know I'm so aggravated with the whole thing. I got the X2 because my fascinate was losing calls (not ringing at all) they offered me an x2 or incredible 2. I took the x2 because it was dual core. I've been kicking myself ever since.....should've taken the incredible. They kept pushing me to upgrade but I refuse to spend money to fix an obvious hardware/software problem. I'll run a fascinate again for a while with froyo and extended battery....

  • having the exact same problem and have tried EVERYTHING. Verizon is sending another droid x2 to me overnight. I'm not optimistic that it will make any difference, but it puts me one step closer to getting a different phone if it doesn't.

  • you would think a dual core processor would be able to deal with this kind of load... maybe the OS just can't handle the processor being dual core it is new after all.

  • Just commenting the say I have the exact same symptoms on my X2. None of the touted "solutions" seem to get rid of it. I had it with Froyo stock, Froyo rooted and supercharged and bloat frozen, and I had it with going back to stock and taking the OTA GB update. I tried different class SD cards, and moving my media to the built-in SD card. All to no avail. The music issue gets progressively worse as the music plays over the course of a couple hours of listening (even w/o multi-tasking).
