Drivers looking for a classy supermini look no further. The Volkswagen Polo seems to have it all: good looks, a high quality interior, plenty of space and sensible pricing. If it falls down in one area it's the driving experience, which

just isn't as much fun as with some of its supermini rivals. Economy in all versions is good, but for maximum fuel efficiency the BlueMotion is a highlight - it manages 80.7 miles on just one gallon of diesel. With its shrunken Golf looks and plentiful space you might want to try the Polo before opting for the Golf -- unless you regularly carry four passengers, there really is very little to choose between them.

I hate how this guy refers to this car as a "supermini" because it just isn't the VW Lupo is a supermini the polo is just small

that interior is good quality, if by good quality you mean lots of elephants arse effect plastic everywhere, including the tacky steering wheel

@chrisluvjh Audi A1 is much more of a mini hot hatch , unlike the Polo which was just a normal road cruiser with many fuel saving features , theres a new A1 Sportback which is a 4 door version of the A1 but I'm sure the Polo is much more cheaper

@leoncarbon ....i said that becos they share the platform and thus are very similar cars thus the polo is a (relative) bargain.

@chrisluvjh the regular A1 is meant to compete with the Mini Cooper , not the polo , and Audi is a premium car company owned by Volkswagen
