Despite an increased awareness of overfishing, the majority of people still know very little about the scale of the destruction being wrought on the oceans. This film presents an unquestionable case for why overfishing needs to end and shows that there is still an opportunity for change. Through reform of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy, fisheries ministers and members of the European Parliament can end overfishing. But only if you pressure them.

Seriously extreme problems need seriously strong solutions: give the oceans a global break of as many years as it is necessary. Or the profiteers will simply destroy us.

It is very bad, and sad, this.

And, the marine creatures are just merchandise.

And, another example of genocide towards animals.

Overfishing is a serious problem, but this is nothing but cleverly disguised propaganda for the EU. The EU subsidized this fleet of fishing boats throughout its history. They are the last ones we should trust to end this genocide.

What a beautiful animation, you have to admit this. but as always, greenpeace specializes in useless figures: that many planes in a net. This is as if I said that shutting the tap while you brush your teeth is equivalent to 50 round trip to the moon on a train. Whatever, there is still a lot of misinformation: 5kg wildfish to get 1kg salmon in aquaculture?!? Inform yourself before you believe any figures from a well achieved animation... what a shame, Greenpeace's communication is disappointing!

Besides the content: This is one of the most impressing examples of how to perfectly visualize statistics, that in numbers noone will recognize. Great job

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. There is no fixed definition of capitalism. There are many systems under which it CAN work. It just takes some balls on behalf of politicians (and, unfortunately international collaboration) to do anything about it.

Things like this are the consecuences of the capitalism. The idea of "more is better", instead of "enough is better" is one of the pillars of this rotten system, and it's impossible to grow infinitely in a finite biosphere. Capitalism is a cancer for our planet. We need to change the system, and we need to change it now, or our sons will pay for our errors.

The series 'The Blue Planet' (with David Attenborough) has a good episode 'Deep Trouble' (with Martha Holmes), also about the over fishing and destruction of the oceans.

Great White Sharks for instance wouldn't usually attack humans, as humans aren't their natural prey. But, with the way the oceans are being so terribly depleted, they might just. So, films like 'Jaws' could be accurate predictions.
