Straight from the GoneIsGone video vault (circa 2004), I'm bringing you Part One of what is a pittance of Loudoun County Virginia's historical treasures. I grew up in this part of the country, before moving to Cheesehead land several years ago. Prior to packing our bags, I took my youngest out to learn a little more about the Civil War history, which played out practically in our own back yard.

My ever-so-energetic child was (and still is) a difficult audience. But, I'm sure, as you're enjoying the battle stories and historical tidbits, you can also appreciate his creative re-enactments. BTW: you can spend hundreds of dollars on toys of all sorts, but there's nothing quite like a good ole fashioned saber and sword battle, using mere... vacuum cleaner nozzles.

  • Yeah, I remember when I was a kid going out to Ball's Bluff... It was in the middle of nowhere; just a bunch of woods. Right before we moved away, it was surrounded by housing developments.
