No offence, but I thought you were summoning Cthulhu for a second there.

One of the impactful performances in a song ever. Mostly for her unabashed joyful innocence mixed with an almost gritty let's get crazy quality. Few artists ever put themsevles out there in the way that Bjork (and the sugarcubes) did. Doesn't hurt that she had a stellar voice, and an almost surreal pixie-like beauty. Most musicians or music critics won't admit how big an influence Bjork is, but maybe that's because almost no-one has ever been able to come close to reproducing these qualities.

There's an equally good English version with video, it should be easy to find. I actually hadn't heard the Icelandic version before, and I think I like it better. :-)

of course the field is mine. You lost it the moment you trashed and belittled an entire population of people and their language based on your own ridiculous opinion while accusing me of putting forth unsubstantiated waffle and pretending to be more educated than you really are.

poor, poor child. first you post unsubstantiated waffle then you follow up with sarcasm when your ignorance is exposed.
it's ok. the field is yours. you are totally right and who was i to question. now please excuse me as i have research to do.

You really are a tool of petty division and snobbery. I'm even more impressed that you are an archaeologist, my body is shaken to the core and I'm jumping up and down from being utterly mindblasted.

care to back that up or you just going to let that breathtaking generalisation flop around like a dying hippo?
i am impressed that you know what languages our prehistoric forebears were using and also something of their social organization, internal politics etc. man, i'm only an archaeologist and as a group we know just about fuck all.
enlighten us.

"a tool for petty division and snobbery"
wow, you understand irony well.
"language with a gazillion variations depending on where you live, which school you went to, what your parents' version was"
You just described every tongue that was ever spoken on this earth since the pleistocene.
