That is a beautiful piece!
-
It's "Have a good trip" from "Unusual meetings" movie.
-
What is the name of this song ?
-
Where did you find this gramophone?
I too own a working soviet-era gramophone, built in Leningrad, 1938.
The horn on mine wraps around the motor und uses the lid as the amplifier.
-
Really clear sound! And I like the record.
-
I see, kinda like the victor repros of today, lol.....
-
All portable gramophones (even western ones) were always pretty spartan, the difference between a badly-made portable and a high-quality one was the audio quality and the quality of the motor. Nasty cheap gramophones (those avaliable to the downtrodden Russian proletariat in the 1920's) had terrible fidelity and the motors wore out quickly.

wouldn't the party officials just have larger gramophones? This doesn't look very opulent
-
I'd imagine that a good quality gramophone like this was avaliable only to party officials.
That really was a great score! Heaps of volume too.Does it sound best with the horn out, or does leaving it in the lid act like a horn extention to increase quality &/or volume?

Thanks Shane!
Oh, of course it sounds better with the horn out... but I left it turned in for most of this video because I was afraid of the sound being distorted on my camera.
