  • Yes, I love Plockton too, we usually stay in the Manse, just opposite the seafood restaurant - I'm thinking of heading back up there again soon - I need my fix of the West Highlands

  • I wish my wife was as cooperative as yours Andy! If I point the camera at her she goes nuts!!! ;-)

    What camera are you using?

  • I don't manage to film the times that she isn't.

I used a JVS GRD3000 for this, but I now have a Sony FX7 but have not edited anything in HD yet

  • LMAO, i know what you mean! I spent my daughters childhood years bribing her every photograph, it was crazy!

I have been using a Sony Mini DV Camcorder for a few years now but have recent;y gained access to a Conon AX H1s, a lovely piece of equipment. I shot teh sledging video with this beauty and I'm really happy with the picture quality.

  • I was very keen on that Canon, but it was a bit dearer ( I got a good deal on the internet) - the Canon recieved a better write up than mine, but I use the cinema filter and it seems to give me what I want -I'm away to watch the sledging.

  • Excellent! Liked the commentary to.

  • Cheers.

We often stay there on my way to Lewis - We love the area - glad you enjoyed it.

  • Ah, Plockton. There`s no place like it. My wife and I have visited many times since "discovering" it courtesy "Wainwright in Scotland", in my view the best book on exploring the Scottish Highlands ever written, even if it was an Englishman who wrote it.

We`ve stayed in the "thatched cottage", courtesy of the wonderful couple who own it and have rented "Maryscroft", just next door several times.

We hope to bring four of the grandchildren over next Spring. Plockton`s a sure thing if so.

  • Excellent

The Duirnish Bridge was designed and built by one Thomas Telford (who was also responsible for the Church of Scotland building in Plockton)

The poor chap who was gorged in September 2003 in Duirnish was,I seem to recall, a German tourist who had niavely attepmted to pet a calf. Not a recommended move.

The cattle also used to roam the streets of Plockton but post-Hamish Macbeth increased tourism put an end to that
