On today's RiO!B episode, I review the new album from Red Hot Chili Peppers, I'm With You. It's in stores on Tuesday, August 30th and can currently be streamed for free on iTunes.

I think the album is great. I like to think of it as a re-birth since the band now has a new guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer. While Flea and Chad Smith provide the beats and funk you're used to, Klinghoffer's guitar style is nothing like John Frusciante. He sits more in the back of the album and provides an ambience for a lot of the tracks that helps to drive the songs along.

In the end, I feel that, unless you're a loyalist to Frusciante, RHCP fans will happily embrace this album. It's the band's first in five years and they bring a new dynamic to their sound while still maintaining the funk elements that make their songs great.

  • This guy really knows what he's talking about :D

  • 6 months later I totally hate it! the worst RHCP album so far, Anthony trying so hard to sing pop melodies while he could rock in rappin', the choruses are just awful, not one decent chorus on 14 songs except maybe Brutus, they all sound the same. wish they broke up when John left a couple of years ago, the new peppers are just awful...

  • riffs that were really memorable and fun to hear, but with the new guitarist he didnt really blow me out the water. Which is actually good because i wouldnt want him to drown Flea and Anthony out with him trying so hard to prove to the fans hes good. I give this album a 7/10. It has its high moments, but like every RHCP it has some songs that are just terrible.

  • this was a good album in my opinion. Rebirth is a great way to describe it. To be honest the singles were my least favorite songs on the album "adventures of rain dance maggie" and "monarchy of roses" were just annoying to me. My favs were, factory of faith, brendans death song, and goodbye hooray. They all had more pep in their step then the other songs on this album. Flea and Anthony definitely shine on this album, the guitar was kind of in the background for me, Stadiumm arcadium had good

  • @SebaChannel Have you seen some of the recent live shows? He's definitely become more confident and is becoming a better guitarist.

  • @TheSorceressKnight AHAHAHAHAHAH!!

  • @RockItOutBlog So are you like...friends with Fantano?

  • @misssophie119 i think this album just shows the other members abilities

anthony is singing better than ever, chad and flea are just beasts on this records and flea took the control of the ship and move it back to the funkiness with his bass lines

josh is not frusciante, he is not that great but his job is really good as a back ground maybe not as a lead guitar but creates the perfect ambient for a good rock/pop/funk song

  • @username1o2 creo q para dar una opinion se debe hablar

si no entiendes ingles, este no es el video para ti

  • great album, the adventures of the raindance maggie is just amazing!!!
