@garyouze2ORAG Oh it looks later than that. THE ROBERT MACNEIL REPORT didn't begin it's debut on tv until 1974-75. I think this segment is from the early 80s.

@ShadowChanceSassy You're not imagining it! There was a whole "whodunit" episode in which balloons dropped from the sky during the first live-action segment, and Big Bird tried to identify the perpetrator. Eventually the media took notice, in the person of McNeil (Big Bird pronounced it "MacNell"), who was even a suspect at one point.
