  • Godfrey just fell in love with the song and wanted to do his version of it. Some people say that his version sounds like the "original" and that the original sounds like a cover-version. The little girl in the video is actually the daughter of the photographer, with no deeper meaning added than that she was excited about being on the video when Godfrey asked her. She was bored in the car I guess.

  • Sir, you have done Ed Bruce proud.....and that is no small feat. I, too, accidently stumbled across this video, and am lucky that I did. Your voice is rare and enjoyable, and the photography in this video is as good as any you will see on CMT. Your rendition of this classic is flawless. I enjoyed it greatly, and it now goes straight to my small list of favorites for many future playings. Thank you.

  • Sounds like cowboy music.

I have only 1 living relative left in Texas.

Mother, an Ausmus, was born in, now "ghost town", Palestine, Texas. Where space shuttle Columbia met its fate. I lived in Houston. We all moved awy years ago. However, no matter how you listen to this song, It sounds like "Texas"! Really a nice piece of work

Humor,"Lone Star State", "Texas"! Lone Star is a Texas ghost town too. lol.

  • Whenever I feel blue & want to remember D past, some in Texas, I play this & have 2 admit, I find it as good as Ed Bruce's rendition. This is Texas, pure & through. Grandmother lived in Wink (nobody knows where that is) and she lived in Galveston. Whenever I happen 2 cross into Texas, This song automatically comes 2 mind. Especially on a perfect day, truck windows can B down. Just driving 80 on I-10 headed 2 El Paso. A few beers, fajitas, God is good. What else could one wish for? Oh, woman.

  • This is real music.

  • Palestine is not a ghost town... Thanks...
