Acting upon Knowledge: Why do we not apply what we Learn - Sh. Kamal el-Mekki

Why do we not apply what we learn? How many video lectures have we watched here on Youtube and how much of it are we actually implementing in our lives?

Shaykh Kamal El Mekki is a young dynamic speaker and lecturer in the United States who dedicates his time and efforts into educating the people through his various talks. He teaches a number of intensive courses designed for the youth and also specializes in the field of Islamic History. The most famous of his talks is his vibrant Dawah workshop called "How to Give Shahadah in 10 minutes," which has led hundreds to Islam.

Previously, he has served as the Imam of George Mason University and has also served as a radio talk show host for a large Islamic radio station in America. He has been teaching Islamic studies in more than five mosques across the Washington DC metropolitan area for over four years. He also teaches various courses designed especially for the youth growing up in the West.

Currently he is the imam at Islamic Information Society of Calgary where he dedicates his time in coordinating programs for the youth and creating a supportive environment for non Muslims.

@SirAdiib I dont think your comment were related to the subject. Besides, we arent knowledgeable enough to give titles to anybody, neither can we take it away. Its good to call ur brothers a good names instead of bad ones, and remembered the word sheik in arabic actually means ( old man) u could be right in that matter he isnt sheik,

@SirAdiib Salam brother, I agree with you nowadays people are throwing around the word shaykh but I don't think brother kamal el mekki asked anyone to call him shaykh.

at 2:15 in this video, our beloved teacher Kamal El-Mekki (حَفِظَهُ اللهُ) is thanking one of the audience members, presumably just a student, and Kamal says to him, جَزَاكَ الله خَير يَا شَيخ ('May Allah reward you O Shaykh); Look at his humility and respect.

@SirAdiib "Shaykh" is a sign (or word) of respect, in Arabic, even for people who are just elderly. So what do you think of someone who is so involved in Da'wah & inviting people to Allah with sound knowledge & wonderful speech -- although Kamal El-Mekki may not accept such a title, we say "Shaykh" out of respect. {Islamically, there is nothing wrong with this}

* As for "Aalim" (Islamic Scholar), or Muhaddith, etc - I agree, this is reserved for " ".
