During the 30 plus year reign of then P.H.S. band director Warren Sperry the Marching Tigers performed in the Orange Bowl, Peach Bowl and Aloha Bowl parades, Chicago Bears games at Soldier Stadium and the 1972 inaugural parade, to name a few.
Known for their outstanding sound and crisp marching, the band, flag girls and rifle corps impressed crowds from all over the country giving Paris something to be proud of and after all these years still remembered for their talent.
For the thousands of students fortunate enough to be part of the history making band and the family and friends of the Marching Tiger Band a special five DVD packet has been produced highlighting the bands activities from 1968 to 1999.
The DVD packets not only include the marching bands performances mentioned above, but also performances during local and state parades, dedications, half-time shows and the 1976 bicentennial tour. In addition there are many performances by the high schools brass choir and several feature and concert band concerts during that time period.
Sperry has imagination; Sperry had passion; Sperry had sideburns! Seriously, he was a great leader, and by God those horns sound great and those ranks are mighty straight! -by Moorhead 1970-1974.
