This how-to video from John Mireles of the Photographer's Toolkit is part of a series about using the histogram to create properly exposed images with your camera. This first installment explains in simple language what is the histogram and how to read it.

  • If you don't like the music, bail. It's a FREE video so you get what you pay for. If you can suffer through the video, you'll learn something. If you can't be bothered, please don't complain to me.

  • Sorry, I can't focus with the music. I'm sure its a nice vid, but repost without music please.

  • whats up with the annoying music??!! Cant watch this tutorial. sorry.

  • @Mirolassa Princess.

  • turn it down

  • Guys, if you don't want the music, and you are into sound editing, just mute the right speaker/s. Music is on the right.

  • great vintage music maybe you can mute your voice off so i can dance.....ooooh sorry is this a photography tutorial? my bad

  • Your heading states "Perfect exposures, The Histogram". Sorry but what has the histogram have to do with perfect exposures. Exposures are controlled by the shutter and diaphragm in the camera. What you are indicating is digital manipulation. This is the same as printing negatives where 'burning and dodging' used to happen in the darkroom. The histogram has nothing to do with exposure.

  • Hey cant hear what you are explaining, bad decision with that music. Could you remade the video?

  • I like the music, and the tutorial too :)

  • Great - very easy to understand. The music is awful, but not to the point where I can't understand what you're saying. Thanks! Off to Part II
