  • Gilmore isn't desperate? He's down 30 points 8 weeks before the election, still hasn't paid off his debt from his last campaign, has been written off by the NRSC and is running against the most popular politician in Virginia.

If he isn't desperate, he isn't paying attention. He was a miserable governor, and the public knows it.

  • Jim Gilmore was a great Governor. An iconic conservative Governor. He cut the car tax as promised and led us through 9-11 and left office with a surplus and smaller government. Mark Warner broke his promise to not to raise taxes and increased spending. Mark Warner made a 1.4 billion dollar lie and Gilmore will hammer him with it till election day. Sarah Palin and John McCain are going to make a difference in this race.

  • Principled? Jim Gilmore? Gilmore makes Richard Nixon look like an Eagle Scout.

Gilmore's more desperate. He still has to pay off the debt from his embarrassing Presidential "campaign."

  • Jim Gilmore isn't desperate. He is merely telling the truth. Even the left should be concerned about someone like Warner who so cavalierly discards his campaign promises when they interfere with his ability to grow government. Jim Gilmore is experienced, he sent up a red flag before 911, he led us through 911, managed to still cut the car tax, and leave a huge surplus. That is not a desperate man that is a principled leader something Mark Warner is not.

  • Still if you watched the debate he said many times "I will not raise taxes" yet he did, many other Governors many of them Democrats in Virginia cleaned up the budget without raising taxes.

  • Gilmore was so principled that he left a complete economic mess. Mark Warner had to clean it up, and did so with BIPARTISAN support. Sure there was a tax increase, we had no choice. That increase was voted for by both Republicans and Democrats. As a result, Virginia managed to maintain its AAA bond rating and was voted "Best Managed State" in the nation.

Interesting how Gilmore's attack ads are being discredited by Virgina Republican Senators. Gilmore can't even get his own party to back him.

  • Gilmore -- such a great iconic conservative that he bankrupted the Commonwealth of Virginia, single handedly creating the 2001 budget disaster. Gilmore is so unbelievably incompetent when it comes to handling money that when he ran for President, he spent a fortune (and is now saddled in debt) and didn't even earn a single vote. Can you say loser?

Most of the Republicans in the Virginia legislature are going to vote for Warner, because at least he's competent.
