You need to study up on tectonic plates and the Mid-Ocean Ridge system. Earthquakes are formed where plates are sliding past or under each other, and hydrothermal vents are where plates are pulling apart from each other. While it's part of the same system, it's not at the same location.

Maybe you should ask the people in Japan or those who used to live in Chernobyl how they feel about nuclear technology. No, they didn't have the new reactor design there, but it demonstrates that there are inherent dangers in the source that can never be negated.

BREST may be better than previous designs, but it doesn't render nuclear power safe and benign. Nothing can do that.

All Russian BREST reactor nuclear power plants are designed with an on site nuclear reprocessing and recycling facilities which eliminates the need to transport the used nuclear fuel to a reprocessing and recycling facility. This makes the entire system completely secured from nuclear theft since all nuclear reprocessing and recycling are already on site.

The same Russian BREST reactor can be modified to be a breeder reactor to produce more nuclear fuel than it uses to power new non-breeder and breeder BREST reactors and consumes nuclear wastes, recycles it's nuclear indefinitely that eliminates nuclear waste storage problems permanently. BREST reactors eliminates the need to buy new nuclear fuel for it recycles it's nuclear fuel indefinitely and consumes it's nuclear wastes that eliminates the costs of nuclear wastes storage.

Sure, Marshall Hydrothermal Recovery System has it's merits. But nuclear power can be multiplied indefinitely with the use of fail-safe, meltdown-proof, passive nuclear systems like the Russian BREST reactor of which one is operational already producing both desalinated fresh water and nuclear electricity at the Caspian Sea. It can simultaneously produce new nuclear fuel as it consumes it's initial start up nuclear fuel and nuclear wastes, indefinitely recycling it's nuclear fuel indefinitely.
