He wanted proof he could break a Federation officer.

I'm saying when it gets really dirty, no one knows anything.

    They use cells.

One cell doesn't know what the other cell is doing, etc.

The guy in charge of the offending operation gets away and the peon that gets tortured gives out stuff everyone involved already knows.

And I mention computers because this is the digital age. It's a massive advantage in the intelligence/counter-intelligence game. Dismissing it in favor of useless tortures would be completely stupid.

  • @manictiger

do you have some reason to believe that torure doesn't get info?

    i don't see why you're mentioning computers.

  • Unless it's devaluing a Conservative or a Christian. :)

  • @waldoman7

And at some point, they'll be able to use brain scans to extract information.

  • @waldoman7

    True. Still, neither does torture.

Anyway, with all their tools, they shouldn't even be considering such sloppy methods.

If you're on an "anonymous" internet connection, they can actually triangulate your computer by how many milliseconds it takes for packets to get from several network "hubs" to your computer.

They have the tech, some of them just don't have the intelligence.

  • @manictiger

knowing that they are lying doesn't make them tell the truth, which is the idea. beyond that I'm pretty sure I addressed every point you've made in my previous posts.

  • @waldoman7

    There's no need these days.

You can do a brain scan, among other things and tell if they are lying.

There are also plenty of drugs that might help.

On top of that, torture is extremely unreliable, since:

    1. The person might not know anything useful in the first place

    2. He could be so well trained that he'll never give out the information.

The people that we spent $2 trillion on and continue to cower from are fanatics. They know neither logic or betrayal.

  • Why does he want to know about the lights?
