I bought this truck at an auction in 1998. It was a really reliable starter and driver. 2 years ago the starter switch broke and it has been sitting since. The fuel is 2 years old too!!!

  • I have a 1986 f250 also but its a gas. Was sitting for 5yrs I went out put a new battery in it and it started right up!

  • @Whopperspigsales Good old Fords... you got to love them!

  • I routinely park my 1983 F250 diesel for six months during the slippery season - it tends to skid with nothing in the bed. I leave a battery trickle charger connected, and check the battery water levels every few weeks. Check the tire pressure, oil & coolant levels before I drive it out again. Never had trouble starting it. I have heard some parts of the country have trouble with algae growing in the fuel, or water collecting, that hasn't bothered me.

  • @artfd Sounds like you take real good care of your truck. Thanks for watching!

  • Hope he didn't use that starting fluid on that poor engine.. starting fluid is hell on diesels!

  • @braaup We've been using it for 12 years and counting. It's only "hell on diesels" if the glow plugs work. Ours don't. Thanks for the comment!

  • I love old ford trucks. I just started one of my parts trucks the other day for the first time in over 5 years!! It is a 1978 bronco with a 351M. All I did was throw in a new battery, give it a splash of gas in the carb, pump the pedal 4 times, and the truck purred like a kitten and never stalled once it started. Man these old Ford trucks are hard to kill. Oh yeah, the truck has 375,000 original miles. My friends 87 blazer's 350 is on it's 3rd rebuild in 60K!! Pure chevy crap.

  • @ViolentBiscuits lol You're kidding right? It's a diesel engine.

  • @KLX1990 Auto

  • t-19 4 speed ?

  • @edzgarage they are bullet proof motors we had one and swapped for a 7.3 because it was in a lifted truck and the 6.9 didnt pull the truck good enough but we put that 6.9 in the other ford and it had 300k miles they are tough may be slow but really strong
