    and you are a maroon... it is one thing doing this to someone who is letting you and trying it to someone that is defending. A even better attack than this would be a knee mount to baseball choke, same idea just easier to setup.

  • @NewOscarGuy I don't want to sound like I'm disagreeing with you, there are many varitaions of gi chokes. I do agree with you about this particular technique. I too was shown a Darce choke using the gi that was just as effective without as many steps, instead of using your gi, you use your opponents gi. Keep up the training, where do you train?

    6 months later, and I still think that wrapping your Gi around his should is still dumb, and a waste of time. I have learned a simular technique, but instead of going around his shoulder for a pivot point, you wrap your lapel around your opponents neck by passing it under, than pulling it over. while holding onto the lepel start to sprawl and rotating your body towards his head if you need to for the tap. Because instead of doing all that work, you can just grip the shoulder.

  • @NewOscarGuy For a person who just started training,your very judgemental about a technique you know nothing about or have experienced.Putting your forearm in your opponents throat is very legal and your remark about getting naked,what he is doing is giving a variation of a powerful choke which happens to be using the gi for.As you get more experienced you will see that you don't have intentionally loosen your gi,it will happen as your training and thats when a move like this comes into play.

  • There is also a variation of the Darce where you use your opponents gi much like the way you would use your own. Nice variation!!!

  • Just from watching it again, you can achieve the same goal by just grabbing the guys shoulder and keep weight on his chest while sprawled.
