  • My Assistant Manager who is head projectionist told me few days ago I am now running the booth since she doesn't work booth that much any more since she is going to university and also get more manager shift then booth. So I take it that I am one of the Head Projectionist. since my theater like having 2 head projectionist. My goal as one of the Head projectionist is get more people trained on removing trailers from movies that has come out. One thing I need to work on is teaching.

  • @ceddas21 how's the teaching going? A position opened up here for Chief Projectionist (or Technical Manager) which i've been waiting for, but now i don't have the time for, slightly annoying, if only it appeared in 2 months time when i'd be free.

  • This is different to the Odeon I knew in the late sixties to the early seventies.

this must be a new building, it was just one screen then.

I was working at the Astor in Guildford at this time which was converted into a twin cinema after

it was sold by the owner Mr Gardener to the Star group.

We were the first cinema to use towers which were the prototype.( so we were told)

  • @thunderclapharry yeah the odeon in guildford used to be up at the top of town it moved back in 1995 (i think) and is now next to the river on Bedford road

  • what's the best way to deal with a brain wrap? because I had one so I had to call for help because it was bad enough where I needed little bit of help fixing the brain wrap and at the end we had to splice part of the film off which was like 2 osa corps which had to come off. When my theater get brain wrap it's because the platter don't keep up with the projector

  • @ceddas21 hey, just reading your comments and not sure what a 'brain wrap' or 'osa' are lol never heard of these terms. If the platter doesn't keep up with the projector then it needs to be re-timed, the ones we have here are set to 25sec to make a full rotation. Had a print fly off the platter at another cinema cos the projectionist timed it too fast! It was a mess!!

Well done for noticing the pressure skate before the feature, wish everyone did... hav had loads of scratched prints recently :(

  • so is your theater a digital theater yet or do your theater still have some 35mm projector ?, my General Manager told me we should be full digital by February 2012 even though we still have 7 35mm projector and have 3 digital projector. So what is your plan to do as a job once the theater is full digital? for me i am not sure what I want to do, i don't think I will be made into Assistant Manager =(.

  • @ceddas21 Dealing with brain wrap is something you can't really put into words. But it sounds like you need to re-time your feed units :)

  • nice video, fair wait till your first cid break mind, try and fit 3 in before first lace up :)

  • and the cue sensor is able to allow film to play though the projector which I found strange so I am just waiting and seeing if number 8 will start stopping in middle of the film!

  • I have one projector at work which is stopping in middle of a show so I came up with a theory it could be the device that reads cue so I swaps the number 7 which is stopping with number 8 cue sensor. So know I am waiting to see if number 8 will be stopping in middle of a show. one thing i found strange with number 7 cue sensor when I switched it with 8 was it wasn't picking up film present when I put film though it even though i plugged the device into number 8 correctly .

  • @thunderclapharry

I was also working at the astor and studio 1&2 after,i then went to the classic horsham as chief projectionist

  • @dom117jd and other movies started on time even the print I made up. luckily enough there was no damage on the dropped print.

  • @dom117jd My teaching is getting better ever since I started taking some anti depression/anti anxiety medication since its helping for my mind making new connection. 2 weeks ago I accidentally dropped a print on the ground when I was moving it by myself. and also I had to build up a movie that day. So what I did was grabbed a floor staff member to help me fix the dropped print, while I made up the movie i had to make up. I started the dropped print 5mins late.
