A simple page where the flight of the butterflies turn into swirls that hold a self-made 'quote'. Following the path leads to an open door and more journaling.

  • What weight is the paper in your journal ? Did you have to gesso it ahead of time, or did you paint straight on it ?

  • @Baaaphomette Hi thanks for commenting. The paper in this journal is very thin because it's a plain paper Moleskine. I find they take quite a bit as long as you don't get the paper too wet or overwork it. Watercolour tends to be too wet, but watercolour crayon or acrylic works well. If you want to over work your paper I recommend the Moleskine sketchbook.

For my handbound journals I generally use 120lb cartridge (heavy drawing) or 140lb watercolour paper. I never use gesso except for effect

  • Thanks :) I loved your crayon making vid. Going to get some more videos up once I get the inital prep for my journal course finished.

  • Hi there! Glad you found my vids.

I saved up and bought the 40 tin. I drooled over the 60 but I'm happy with the 40. There are places that sell individual ones online if you want to expand your collection in bits ;)

  • I adore those crayons! I'va recently got myself a box with 40 colors. What a treat, yummie!

  • Yes, mine's box of 40 I bought about 6 months ago. So much brighter and more depth of colour than w/c pencils and so nice to use.
